COVID-19 Update: Week of July 21

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department has confirmed 77 cases of COVID-19 in Madison County since July 14.

There are currently 11,682 total cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The health department says they have recently seen a spike in cases of COVID-19, and some of those new cases have been linked to summer travel and household contacts.

Health department regional director Kim Tedford says they are encouraging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine if they have not already.

“We know the delta variant is here based on the representative sampling done through CDC, but currently have no documented cases of delta in Madison County. Based on studies thus far, we know COVID-19 vaccines offer protection against delta and other variants. The delta variant is highly transmissible. The only way to help stop the transmission is by being vaccinated,” Tedford said in the release.

The health department also released statistics on patients, including zip code, race, gender, age and their health statuses.
