Upcoming hikes to focus on Sherman, Shiloh Indian Mounds
SHILOH, Tenn. — Shiloh National Military Park’s next two hikes are focusing on William T. Sherman and the Shiloh Indian Mounds.
The park says that it will be hosting a hike on July 30 called “Rhea Springs to the Crossroads: Hiking with Sherman’s Division.”
The hike will take you through Sherman’s lines, and discuss the struggles that both Confederate and Union soldiers faced during the battle. It will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with hikers meeting at Tour Stop #6 to begin.
Another hike set for Aug. 20 will go beyond the Battle of Shiloh to the year 1250. The park will be hosting a hike that focuses on the Shiloh Indian Mounds, and will focus on Native American life, what was eaten, and why the mounds were built.
