While the contest is typically limited to downtown storefronts, this year the contest is going city-wide.

That means all residents and local businesses within Jackson are encouraged to show off their festive spirit and add some holiday sparkle to the city.

“While our downtown storefront holiday decorating contest has been a success, we wanted to bring the holiday cheer to everyone across the entire city,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “I encourage our citizens to join in the holiday spirit to light up Jackson with their best holiday decorations.”

Those who wish to participate can sign up through the “Light Up Jackson for the Holidays” link on the City of Jackson’s website.

A news release states participants will be added to the city’s Holiday Decorating Tour Map for other residents and visitors to enjoy.

Awards will be given for various categories, including “Best in Snow” and “People’s Choice.”

The release states all winners will receive a holiday decorating contest window or lawn sign, a trophy for bragging rights, and a gift card. Additionally, photos of winning business and homes will be shared on the city’s website and social media platforms.
