‘Christmas Cottage’ shop returns to Hub City for 40th anniversary
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local shoppers are decking the halls early with holiday goodies.
“I will, I will come back next year,” said shopper Jennifer Gillis.
The Madison County FCE Club opened their annual Christmas Cottage shop Friday in the Hub City.
“This is our 40th anniversary of the Christmas Cottage,” said Krisann Blair, Christmas Cottage chairperson for the Madison Co. FCE Club. “We do the Christmas Cottage always in the same place, same time every year, the weekend before Thanksgiving on Friday and Saturday.”
And Blair says each item in the store has a personal touch.
“Everything is handmade, hand-baked, hand-designed,” Blair said. “We do have some computer designers that make up things as well as the crotchet, quilts, paintings. Just all kinds of stuff. Wonderful baked goods.”
Shoppers Jean Smith and Jennifer Gillis say the wide variety of homemade selections is exactly why they came out.
“We just love the handmade crafts and admire the beautiful work and delicious homemade goods,” Smith said.
“I came because my good buddy asked me to come, and I’m so glad she did,” Gillis added. “This is my first trip and there are some wonderful things here. Yummy food, pretty scarves and caps.”
And they say you don’t want to miss out on this cozy cottage store.
“Everyone needs to come out. It is just a wonderful, wonderful thing and they will find something,” Smith said.
The Christmas Cottage is located at 309 North Parkway in Jackson.
For those that did not make it Friday, the store will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and there will be a new batch of homemade baked goods made for Saturday.
