City of Jackson prepares for Christmas parade, tree lighting

JACKSON, Tenn. — Preparations are underway for the City of Jackson’s holiday celebrations.

The annual Christmas parade and a tree lighting ceremony will take place in the Hub City next week.

This year, instead of being held on a Monday evening, the parade has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Mayor Scott Conger says with the change, they hope more families will be able to enjoy the festivities.

Themed “A Christmas Toyland,” the parade will take off from the Carl Perkins Civic Center with former Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris as Grand Marshal.

Also, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held downtown on Friday, Dec. 9.  The public is invited to gather at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall as the tree gets powered up for the first time this season.
