TBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Greene Co.

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn.— TBI investigating overnight shooting.

According to a news release from the TBI, at the request of the 3rd Judicial District Attorney General Dan Armstrong, an officer involved shooting that occurred overnight Saturday, February 18, in Greene County is currently under investigation.

Preliminary information indicated that around 10:00 pm, Greene Co. Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a resident located on Bolton Road in Greeneville. Deputies were fired upon at arrival to the residence. Gunfire continued from the home until around 12:30 am, when deputies encountered a male and female at the back of the residence. Initial reports indicate the male, Joshua A. Baker (DOB: 11/11/1985) pointed the gun at and shot the female. Deputies returned fire, striking the male. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The female was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. No deputies were injured during the incident.

The incident is currently under investigation. TBI agents are working to determine the series of events that led up to the incident, collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Updates and information processed throughout the investigation will be directed to the District Attorney General.
