Leadership program meets with mayors, law enforcement

JACKSON, Tenn. — Members of the University of Tennessee at Martin’s WestStar Leadership Program met with local mayors and law enforcement in the Hub City.

Thursday was the third session for the group, focusing on the humanity of leadership.

UTM’s Dr. Charley Deal said they used a poverty simulator for the day’s session, giving participants a look at how they can handle those who are in need.

“Having our group go through that simulation to better understand what our families are facing,” Deal said.

Deal says for the two days after Thursday’s session, the participants in the program will learn about all the social aspects for what’s going on in communities across West Tennessee.
