Mrs. Bettye Elrod Kelly

Mrs. Bettye Elrod Kelly, age 74, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery. A visitation for Mrs. Kelly will be Monday evening, March 13, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.

Bettye was born on August 7, 1948, in Haywood County. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Family was important to her, and she loved each of them dearly and was blessed by spending time with them.  Her grandchildren brought her such joy.  She loved to shop and travel. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Kelly; her parents, Woodrow Wilson and Ruby Byrd Elrod; three brothers, Billy Elrod, Wilson Elrod, Jimmy Roe Elrod; three sisters, Annie Wyatt, Katherine Elrod, and Virginia Austin.

She is survived one daughter, Becky Archer (Bill) of Brownsville, TN; two sons, Timmy Kelly (Donna) of Brownsville, TN, Tony Kelly (Erica) of Mercer, TN; one brother, Donald Elrod (Bessie) of Savannah, TN;  two sisters, Carolyn Vatter from Colorado, Brenda Gatlin of Whiteville, TN; three grandchildren, Cody Archer, Lucas Kelly (Cory) and McKenzie Clark (Lance); two great-grandchildren, Nora Kate Kelly, Aubree Kelly, and one on the way, Lucas Reid Clark; and her special fur baby, JoJo.

Pallbearers to serve are Cody Archer, Lucas Kelly, Lance Clark, Bruce Staggs, Dustin Staggs, and Jacob Staggs.
