Jackson Area Community Bands to host free Spring concert

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Area Community Bands is preparing to host their Spring 2023 concert.

The free, public event will be held on Monday, May 1, at Union University’s Savage Chapel.

The concert will feature two ensembles: The Symphonic Winds, a wind and percussion ensemble conducted by Tony Burriss and consisting of about 50 members, and the Swing Orchestra, a jazz and big band ensemble conducted by David Kyles.

The Symphonic Winds will be performing “A Night at the Movies,” featuring tunes from “Les Misérables,” “Harry Potter,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and more.

The Swing Orchestra’s presentation, “Spring Break,” will feature a lively lineup of the tunes like “Bluff Point,” “Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most,” “Tickletoe,” and others.

Jackson Area Community Bands is a fund of the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation and features local musicians who share their time and talent as volunteers.
