New talent center opened on local campus

JACKSON, Tenn. — The community joined together for a celebration as students in a local college were granted a new opportunity.

“This is a great morning for a grand opening of a CVS WITC,” announced Dr. Logan Hampton, the President of Lane College.

Lane College, along with the CME Church and CVS Health, opened a new facility on Lane’s campus located in McClure Hall.

Workforce Innovation Talent Center, or WITC, is a program that allows Lane students, Jackson high schoolers, and partakers in a local disability agency the opportunity to learn various skills. Those skills range from simulating IV bag preparation to working in a mock CVS retail pharmacy store.

Many community leaders came to show their support, including Jackson Chamber officials and Mayor Scott Conger.

During the opening ceremony, one person spoke on behalf of the future of the program and their gratitude for the experience the students will be able to receive.

They said the facility is designed to help students learn first hand the skills they will use in the workforce. There are multiple programs and meetings that will be involved in center as well.

And those that are involved in this opportunity can also gain scholarships, clinical experience, career opportunities and internships.

The ceremony concluded with light refreshments and a tour of the new facility.
