Group seeks to honor women veterans at upcoming event

JACKSON, Tenn. — Women veterans will be honored at an upcoming event by the Jackson-Madison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

The group is currently seeking women veterans to honor at their annual Women Veterans Day commemoration. This year’s event will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 at at VFW Post 6496, 285 Airways Boulevard in Jackson.

During the event, which will also feature refreshments and door prizes, DAR will recognize all women veterans with a certificate of honor for their service to our country.

To be included, you’re asked to email your name for the certificate, branch of service, and years enlisted (ex. 2000-2005) to JUtleyDAR@gmail.com or phone at (731) 293-5055.

Submissions will be accepted through June 8.

“Women have served our nation honorably and with valor from the Revolutionary War through the present day,” said DAR Service for Veterans committee chair, Jackie Utley. “We are so pleased to be able to recognize and honor their service and sacrifice to our country.”
