UPDATE: Multiple crashes cause delays on Interstate 40, 3 injured
UPDATE (5/23/23): The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirms multiple injuries in a wreck on Interstate 40 on Monday afternoon. THP says around 2:46 p.m., a chain-reaction type collision occurred near mile marker 88. That crash involved five vehicles, including two tractor-trailers, and resulted in a total of three injuries. Any possible charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Multiple crashes reported along Interstate 40 caused major traffic delays on Monday afternoon.
Our crews were on scene around 4:15 p.m. near mile marker 93, where an SUV could be seen being loaded onto a tow truck.
Photos courtesy of Downtown Rickey Brown Traffic Spotters Network indicate an additional wreck occurred near mile marker 88.
Traffic in the east bound lane was brought to a halt as crews worked to clear both scenes.
