Deputies with the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched after a 911 call on Friday afternoon stating a man found a woman in his shop who had been assaulted.
First on the scene was Alamo Police Chief Jeff Sills, who requested a response from Crockett Co. Ambulance Service for medical aid to the victim.
After an investigation by Chief Sills, it was determined that Barber kidnapped the woman and held her hostage in his home for three days. After consultation with the District Attorney General’s Office and because of the severity of injuries to the victim, probable cause was obtained to issue warrants for Barber’s arrest.
In a joint effort between Crockett Co. Sheriff’s Dept., Alamo Police Department, led by the U.S. Marshall’s Office, law enforcement officers located Barber at North Bells Street in Alamo and he was apprehended without incident.
Barber is currently in Crockett County Jail for the violent crimes he has committed in the community. He is set to be arraigned on these felonies and is being held without bond.
We reached out to Alamo Police Chief Jeff Sills, who had no further details to release at this time, but indicated that Barber would be arraigned Thursday of next week in Crockett Co.
