Suspect found after threat made to local high school

MARTIN, Tenn. — The Martin Police Department says a suspect has been found following a threat made to Westview High School.

The police department says around 10:15 a.m. on Monday, staff were made aware of a threat made through a social media post.

The department says officers arrived and were posted in and out of the facility, with a cyber-investigation also being launched in conjunction with Homeland Security.

The suspect was found to be a juvenile offender that is a Westview High School student, according to police.

Police say no weapons found and that no imminent threat was present.

Police say the juvenile was issued a Juvenile Arrest Petition for Threat of Mass Violence on School Property or School Related Activity.

They add that the case will be presented in Weakley County Juvenile Court.
