“Defensive attack”: Dresden Fire Department fights aggressive commercial fire

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - The Dresden Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire on Tuesday.

DFD responded with three engines, one brush truck, and 14 personnel.

“Upon arrival, command reported heavy smoke showing from the A-side of the structure. Engine 1 arrived on scene and initiated an aggressive interior fire attack through the A-side front entrance. After approximately 10 minutes, fire conditions intensified and began venting through the roof,” said DFD. " For firefighter safety, all personnel were withdrawn from the structure and operations transitioned to a defensive attack."

Mutual aid was requested from Martin, Sharon, and Palmersville Fire Departments to help fight the fire. Around 35 firefighters assisted extinguishing the fire.

It took approximately five hours to put out the blaze with personnel heading back to the area to extinguish hot spots that formed during the night.
