The cold front came through late Thursday night into Friday morning and stalled out on Friday somewhere just south of the I-40 corridor. As the front got closer on Thursday, most of the rain stayed north of I-40, that was not the case Friday night. Numerous storm cells and clusters developed and moved through in the early evening and early nighttime hours before tapering off overnight. A few pop ups also look possible this weekend with Saturday’s chances being a bit higher at this time as the front moves east of our area as the weekend progresses. Skies will be partly cloudy tonight, the winds will vary in direction and overnight lows will dip down to the upper 60s.

Highs dropped from the mid 90s on Thursday to the low 90s on Friday behind the front. Morning lows on Friday started out near 70° and will stay around that number for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights too. The cooler weather will be driven by northerly winds that came back late Thursday from the north and will last into the start of the weekend further south into West Tennessee. Highs will reach the low to maybe mid 90s this weekend as the winds will shift in direction over the weekend depending on what side of the stalled out front you are on. More heat appears to be sticking around into next week as well for most of us.

Highs on Monday will reach the mid 90s and mid 90s appear to be sticking around for most of next week as well. Next week will be our last full week of summer as fall officially kicks off on Tuesday September 22nd, next week. There appears to be no signs or average or below average (highs in the mid 80s) coming in the next 10-14 days. We have not been below average once this month and it may end up being the hottest September on record in West Tennessee unless some changes show up soon.
