Original story:
Jackson, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department confirms that a body has been found at Miller Lumber Company in west Jackson. Officers have not identified the person.
Police cars swarmed the property Wednesday morning. William Fondren, yard foreman and lumber inspector, said one of his co-workers found a body on the property. “We went down there and looked, and it’s been crazy ever since then,” Fondren said.
Jackson police said they got the call around 8:30 a.m. Officers spent several hours gathering evidence on the scene. “Fifteen to 20 police cars, investigators and stuff,” Fondren said. “I’m just trying to stay away and do my job.”
Police said they are still trying to determine how the person died and would not say if they suspect foul play. “We want to do a thorough investigation to ensure that we leave no stones unturned,” Lt. Derick Tisdale with the Jackson Police Department said.
Fondren said the body was found on a piece of the property they do not often visit. “I’ve not been down there in probably two or three months,” he said. “It’s where we put our old saws and equipment.”
Police are trying to determine how long the body had been there.
Fondren said he is concerned for the person’s family and hopes they get answers.
Officers are expected to release more information Wednesday afternoon.
