Former MS Lawyer To Get Home Arrest
Former attorney Joey Langston, who was convicted in a Mississippi judicial bribery case, will be released from federal prison and be placed on home confinement on April 18.
The Daily Corinthian reports U.S. District Judge Michael Mills amended Langston’s sentence at the request of prosecutors, who cited Langston cooperation in the case.
Usually prisoners when released to go a halfway house. Mills says Langston will be under electronic monitoring.
Langston was sentenced in 2008 to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty to his role in a conspiracy to improperly influence a Hinds County judge who was presiding over a lawsuit regarding legal fees owed to Oxford attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs and others.
Langston reported to prison in April 2009. He is scheduled to complete his sentence on Nov. 25.
