East Chester Paving
Paving along East Chester Street, part of a project to improve and restore the area has been completed. Thursday, crews put the final touches on the roadway between the U.S. Highway 70 Bypass and Holland Avenue. Repaving efforts are part of the East Chester Street improvement project, paid for by federal, state and city funds, which includes $1.5 million provided by TDOT through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. City leaders and community members believe the changes will greatly enhance the overall aesthetics of the east Jackson community. “Good, now we don’t have to bump every time we drive down East Chester,” said Amanda Wilbourn. “They did a great job, it makes the neighborhood looks nice.” Sylvia Wilbourn. “I think that they’re making East Jackson look a lot better that what it used to.” Lawanda Greer A kickoff and gathering will be held at Noon on June 11 at Centennial Park to commemorate the changes that have taken place in the community.
