Dyersburg Middle School Student Arrested

Dyersburg police arrested a 13-year-old student at Dyersburg Middle School for aggravated assault, Friday morning. According to School Resource Officer Chad Webb, a teacher alerted him around 7:30 a.m. that a student armed with a pocket knife and he had “stuck” other students. Officers said the 13-year-old was immediately taken into custody. The pocket knife was recovered in one of the bathrooms. Investigators determined that five students had been “stuck” with the knife and some of the victims were threatened if they told. Three 12-year-old students and two 13-year-old students were assaulted. None of the students required medical attention. The 13-year-old is charged with five counts of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon on school property. The Dyer County Juvenile Court Office ordered the juvenile be released, due to lack of room at the McDowell Detention Center. He has a court appearance scheduled in Dyer County Juvenile Court on April 27 at 8:30 a.m.
