In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is designated in April, the Jackson Exchange Club kicked off its annual “Flags of Freedom” celebration, Tuesday. For the fourth straight year, the club will display more than 1,000 American flags to represent, not only child abuse victims, but military members past and present and all of the area’s first responders. This year, the display will be on the front lawn of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the US Highway 45 Bypass from May 21 through June 10. “We hope that it will touch their hearts and it will make them stop for just a moment to feel how fortunate they are and their families have been and hopefully join us in the fight against child abuse,” said Tawnya Moore, president of the Jackson Exchange Club. Money donated through the “Flags of Freedom” program benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Centers across the area. Last year, the Carl Perkins Center helped more than 4,300 West Tennessee children.
