Miss. Couple Accused Of Pilfering Pine Straw

A husband and wife who’ve had a lawn care contract with the Rankin County School District since 2005 are charged with defrauding the district out of more than $80,000 worth of pine straw.

Mississippi Auditor Stacey Pickering announced the arrests Monday in a news release. He says Dolister and Malcolm Sanders are charged with fraudulent statements and representations, conspiracy to defraud, tampering with physical evidence and wire fraud.

It wasn’t immediately clear if they had hired a lawyer.

Pickering says the couple owns Sanders Lawn Service and has a service contract with the district. The arrest is related to more than $80,260 in pine straw that was not delivered, even though the district was billed for it.

Pickering says he expects additional arrests.
