Meyer Visits Hospital Patients

The winningest coach in NCCA basketball in the county is visiting the Hub City. Coach Don Meyer, who is best known in Tennessee for his wins as the head basketball coach at Lipscomb University in Nashville spent some time making the round at a local hospital. Meyer, whose life took an expected turn in a car accident which lead to an inoperable cancer diagnosis, visited children at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The respected coach encouraged making recoveries. “You have to realize that in the position you’re in, you can still be of use to a lot of people, and be of service to alot of people, maybe even more so because you had cancer,” said Coach Don Meyer of Northern State University. Coach Meyer is currently serving as a regents distinguished professor and assistant to the president at Northern State University, South Dakota. Meyer was the featured speaker at Thursday night’s Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
