Former Madison County Constable, Mike Presson, was rushed to the hospital Thursday night, less than an hour after he was found guilty of 22 counts involving the rape and sexual battery of two young girls. The Madison County sheriff said Presson complained of chest pains while being booked into the jail. But, it was a long wait for Mike Presson to hear his verdict, eight hours into the jurors deliberation they sent a note to Judge Roy Morgan for help. “And of course the note reads, we can not reach a judgment on the first count can you please help,” said Judge Morgan. Although Presson seemed anxious to hear the news, the jdge’s reply was simple. “You have heard the evidence and you as jurors as you have been instructed must decide this cause based on the evidence and law.” Three hours later, the all female jury came to a unanimous decision. “We the jury on count one of the indictment find as to the defendant Michael Presson as follows,” began one of the jurors. And a nervous energy began to float through out the courtroom. “As to the defendant Michael Presson as to the offense of rape of a child, guilty,” the juror finished. In front of family and friends, Mike Presson heard his guilty convictions on 11 counts of child rape and 11 other counts involving sexual battery. He was immediately taken into custody and forced to remove anything he held dear, before being cuffed and taken away, being found guilty of raping the 10 and 13 year old girl.
