Members of the United Way of West Tennessee gave a big thanks to companies and individuals their time and energy who have donated their time and energy to helping them help others. Tuesday night, the organization held the 2011 Recognition Dinner for hundreds of volunteers, businesses and community leaders in attendance. Leaders said they participated in the 2010-2011 fundraising efforts for the United Way, which raised about $2.1 million, which is and increase of 4.35 percent from last year’s amount raised. Organizers said,, volunteers and donors play a bigger part than many even know. “The United Way depends on the volunteers who make a difference in our community,” said Alan Turner II, CEO of the United Way of West Tennessee. Leaders said, the money raise will be invested back into the community.
