Bobo Easter Service

On Sunday community members gathered for an early morning Easter service in honor of Holly Bobo, the Decatur County nursing student that went missing April 13. “My heart today is celebrating the Resurrection of my Lord and finding Holly Bobo and bringing her back home to her family,” said Pastor Don Franks of Corinth Baptist Church in Darden, the church Bobo attended. Franks led the service this morning and said he would be among those searching for her after he concluded his services for the day. “She had been with our mission group….that goes to a special needs camp in Mississippi,” said Franks, commenting on Bobo’s past involvement with the church. Franks said Bobo had expressed a desire to help with the church’s mission efforts, upon graduating from nursing school. “I’ve never understood why bad things happen to good people,” said Franks. Franks said just four weeks ago yesterday, his grandson, a freshman at University of Tennessee Martin, was killed in a car accident. “I thought it was the worst tragedy, but the tragedy that happened to the Bobo’s is worse than anything my family experienced, because we know what happened to my grandson, but the Bobo’s don’t know. They don’t know where their daughter is, they don’t know what she’s going through,” said Franks. Volunteers said they fear the momentum of the search will decrease as time continues to pass since Bobo’s disappearance. “It’s slower than it was originally. The search has been going on so long… people can walk or ride all day and not find anything. We still need people to look,” said Jacob Loum, a volunteer search leader. Law enforcement officers said they hoped to see more volunteers later Sunday, as they expect people within the community will attend their own Easter services and then return to the search.
