Haslam Hits 100 Day Mark

Gov. Bill Haslam marks 100 days in office on Monday.

The Republican says he’s been pleased with what his administration has accomplished so far and where his legislative priorities stand in the Legislature.

But Haslam says he also looks forward to the legislative session coming to an end so he can focus on other areas under his responsibility as Tennessee’s chief executive, ranging from meeting with business leaders to making sure the state’s bridges are in a good state of repair.

Republican leaders in the Legislature have praised the new governor’s performance so far, while Democrats say they would like Haslam to take a stronger stand against GOP initiatives they consider extreme, like efforts to curb teachers’ collective bargaining rights or creating a school voucher program.
