Henderson County investigators arrested a man Monday for allegedly stealing from an elderly veteran man right after he suffered from a stroke. According to reports, Johnny Armstrong told hospital workers the man was his father and took his belongings, which included more than $3,000 in cash. While the man was still in the hospital, his long time live-in girlfriend was bedridden so she couldn’t keep track of what Armstrong was doing at the time. However, Claudia White said he left all of her cats and a dog locked in the trailer for two weeks. She said Armstrong also made life threats toward her and stole property from the trailer. “He was making it out that he was helping me then I started seeing things going, going. The neighbors across the street saw him moving much into his truck,” said White. Armstrong remains in Henderson County jail facing charges of aggravated burglary, theft of property over $10,000 and felony vandalism.
