JEA Continues Power Restoration Efforts
Crews continue to work throughout the city to restore electric service. Currently, there are approximately 3,000 customers out of service. JEA Crews are joined by crews from Brownsville, TN and Alcorn County, MS as part of a cooperative agreement. At this point, areas where we are working to restore power are too numerous to define and an accurate restoration time is not available. Crews are working around the clock to restore power in a timely manner. Customers who are still without power are encouraged to contact JEA at 422-7500 to report that outage except for customers residing within the concentrated areas of Nortpointe Subdivision and Westover and Denmark Road. At this time there are multiple isolated outages that are scattered across the county that may not be picked up within 12 hours. The following are concentrated areas that we anticipate will be out of power for an extended period (>12 hours). 1. Northpointe Subdivision 2. Westover Rd. and Old Denmark Rd. Public Safety and the safety of our crews are a primary concern. Please stay away from damaged areas of the community, especially while crews are working to restore service. Avoid areas where wires are hanging low or on the ground. Electric wires may be energized and pose a risk to your safety. Please use portable generators wisely and isolate them from the electric circuits and mains before connecting them to appliances.
