Anti-Cyber Bullying Program
The world wide web has opened up the world for children. But it has opened up the problem of cyber bullying in recent years. The US Assistant District Attorney for the Western District of West Tennessee, Deb Ireland spoke to a group of students about the issue at Trenton Middle School, Monday afternoon. Ireland spoke to 5th graders on the importance of cyber safety while exploring the world wide web as part of the National Project Safety Childhood Campaign, which focus on anti-cyber bullying. “They’re at an age where their technical knowledge far exceeds their knowledge of human nature and so they can get themselves into a lot of trouble unless they are equipped with the tools to keep from getting into a situation like that,” Deb Ireland, Assistant Attorney for Western District of Tennessee. Ireland added, this campaign, especially designed for 5th graders, teaches them that cyber bullying is not only hurtful, it is also hurtful.
