Tennessee River Flooding Impact
Residents along the Tennessee River in Decatur and Perry Counties are dealing with rising water as well. Although it is not as dramatic a scene as the Mississippi, officials say the level has risen about 20 feet above flood stage. Numerous camping neighborhoods have evacuated nearby marinas and campgrounds, moving to gas station lots for higher ground. Mousetail Landing State Park has many areas that are closed, due to flooding. The primitive campground sites are all under water, and are expected to be closed for some time. Officials say the water level did drop some over the weekend, between 5 and 6 feet.
