An apparent relationship gone bad has landed a Madison County man in big trouble after an argument in Toone. According to Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department, 49-year old Mike Marsh went to a woman’s home, unloaded his deer rifle outside her house, and then went to his truck and got his chain saw. Officials said Marsh tore into the woman’s fence and other items outside her home. They say concerned neighbors came over after hearing the loud noise. According to officials, Marsh then turned the chain saw on them and threatened to cut their heads off. “She advised my deputy that it’s (relationship) been over for quite a while, but he’s still thinking he’s in this relationship with her,” said Sheriff John Doolen of Hardeman County. Sheriff Doolen said two neighbors pressed charges against Marsh, landing him two aggravated assault charges. “You never know what’s going through somebody’s mind like that. She could have said something else to him and he could have turned the rifle on her and shot her. You just never know what’s going through a person’s mind,” said Sheriff Doolen. He said domestic situations are among the most dangerous calls they make and in these disputes it is best to walk away and call law enforcement. “If you get mad, it’s better just to walk away and cool down, because nothing gets solved with a ‘hot head,'” said Sheriff Doolen.
