Ft. Campbell Soldier Dies In Combat
A 25-year-old Fort Campbell soldier from Colorado has died in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department says Cpl. Brandon M. Kirton of Centennial, Colo., died Wednesday in Kandahar province. The military says he was wounded when insurgents attacked his unit with small-arms fire and mortar rounds.
Kirton was an infantryman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. He joined the Army in January 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell six months later.
He is survived by his father, Robert C. Kirton, and mother, Kathleen A. Kirton, both of Parker, Colo; and his daughter, Heaven Kirton of Centennial.
