Haywood County Prepares Tornado Shelter

Haywood County leaders say they are prepared to open the newly constructed tornado shelter, Wednesday night. The shelter is located inside the Criminal Justice Complex, near Highway 19 in Brownsville. Construction on the building was finished about a month ago, planning officials say. Emergency Management Director Bob Parks says if a tornado warning is issued, the shelter will be open for residents to enter. The room is designed to hold more than 500 people.
