In the search to find a new school superintendent, chairman Bob Alvey says they are considering adding more than $20,000 to the superintendents already $133,000 paycheck. “The consultants we’re working with who are very experienced in finding superintendents, came in and said we think it’s going to take for a district this size, this is the salary range that people across the country are seeing,” explained school board chairman Bob Alvey. Board members have hired search firm BWP and Associates and hope to start reviewing potential candidates within the next few weeks. “It’s really not about money figures so much its really about the caliber of person we find,” said Alvey. He also said performance based incentives including academic scores, ACT scores and graduation rates could also be part of the deal. “If you can not measure the results, then how do you know if you’ve gotten your money’s worth,” explained JMCS parent Delisa Love. “I mean this community wants and needs to be successful a world class school district. That’s where I want to send my kids,” said Alvey.
