MS Man Gets 4 Decades In DUI Case

A Picayune man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for being under the influence of drugs when he caused a May 23, 2008, collision that claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl and left two others seriously injured.

The Sun Herald reports Brian Mooney pleaded guilty Thursday to driving under the influence and DUI causing serious injuries.

Harrison County Assistant District Attorney Jason Josef says Circuit Judge Roger Clark sentenced Mooney to 20 years on each charge to run concurrently.

Authorities say Mooney was under the influence of cocaine and the prescription muscle relaxer Soma when his SUV crashed head-on with a car, killing Lashae Necaise and injuring Lindsey Ladner, the driver, and Marcus Ladner.
