Tiptonville Buildings Damaged in Storm

Although much of West Tennessee was spared from major storm damage Wednesday night, one Lake County city took a hard hit. The roof of a building at Lake Ridge Apartments was ripped off during the fast moving storm. None of the residents were injured. However, ten families were displaced due to the damage. Not far from the apartments, a brick car wash was a total loss along with three cars that were underneath. Owners of the cars say they were seeking shelter from the hail storm, but got a lot more than they bargained for. “I heard it ticking up at the top of the building at first and usually it does that when the wind starts blowing really loud, but I didn’t expect that to happen,” said victim Kristin Doyle. The owner of the car wash says he plans to rebuild this summer.
