Lexington Family Fights Off Robber
A Lexington man is able to catch a burglar right after he had broken into his mother’s home. Kerri Ivy says she was working at a Lexington house as a personal care attendant on Tuesday when she heard someone inside the house. She found Mark Kyle in the front yard and said he seemed like he needed help. “Well, he was polite and he called me ma’am and I let him use my phone to call somebody to help him,” said Ivy. After Kyle caught a ride and left, Ivy said she went back into the house only to find her purse was missing. At that point Ivy’s client’s son Jimmy Meek arrived and she told him all about what had happened. Within minutes, Kyle returned with gas for his truck, but Meek stopped him just as quickly as he arrived. He grabbed a piece of scrap wood, blocking Kyle from the truck and held him there until police arrived. “I think we’re all going to have to stand up for ourselves and start standing up for one another,” said Meek Police later discovered the truck Kyle was in had been reported stolen out of Decatur County. He is currently charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $500.
