World ‘No Tobacco’ Day

If you use tobacco, then you are using a product that is the second leading cause of death worldwide, that according to the World Health Organization. To bring awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and the importance of quitting as Tuesday was proclaimed “World No Tobacco Day.” According to state health officials, too many Tennesseans died from preventable illnesses linked to tobacco use, such as smokeless tobacco. Health experts said today is the day to make the transition to a tobaccoless lifestyle by quitting. “The head and neck cancers, including oral cancers with the mouth, around the mouth, the tongue, the jaw line, the tonsil. All of these may require surgical intervention or removal.” said Susan Barker a social worker with the Kirkland Cancer Center.
