Kids Help with Home Projects
One group of students volunteered their time and energy to beautify the homes of many Jacksonians in need. One of the properties the group worked on Wednesday afternoon was part of a week-long program to help low-income homeowners in need of repair work. The program, sponsored by the Neighborhood Services Department and Project Acts, makes modest enhancements to houses chosen for the program, which includes scraping and painting as well as yard maintenance. Organizers said they hope the projects leaves a lasting affect on the teens involved. “Maybe they’ll learn the value of work and working as a team and as a group and just the importance of community,” said Bryan Fewell, a team leader. Volunteers meet at 8 every morning at Trinity Christian Academy’s chapel. For more information on the program on how you can volunteer, contact the Neighborhood Services Department.
