City Council Meets on Budget
The Jackson City Council takes another step in the procedure to pass a new budget, Friday. On its first reading, council members approved a $63.7 million spending plan. It is a “no growth” budget with almost no capital expenses. To take care of capital issues, council members passed a $10.2 million bond issues, which will help build a new fire station and pay for streets and other infrastructure needs. Many members of the council say they feel as though the budget will allow the city to continue moving forward. A second reading is scheduled for next week.
