The Madison County Sheriff’s Office announced they have charged Richard Alan White, 28, with five counts in connection with the crash that killed Amber Kendrick, 12, and injured two others, Tuesday night. According to a news release, White has been charged with reckless vehicular homicide, failure to stop and render aide in an accident involving death or personal injury, tampering with evidence, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a revoked driver’s license. However, family members of Amber Kendrick want to know why he wasn’t arrested before the accident, since he’s been wanted for two weeks for violating community corrections. “Is that the way we’re gonna continue to do business, so we can allow people out here on the roads being irresponsible, taking the lives of our children and our mothers and our wives? This hits home for a lot of us out here,” said the victim’s father Charles Kendrick. Sheriff David Woolfork said deputies did attempt to execute the warrant two days after it was issued at White’s house, but he was not home. According to investigators, on Tuesday, May 31, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an incident involving a 1984 Chevrolet pick-up truck striking two horses with riders in the 200 block of Diamond Grove Rd. Amber Kendrick was riding on one of the horses, and was ejected from the horse upon collision. The two other horse riders were treated for non-life threatening injuries. After the collision, the driver of the truck reportedly exited his vehicle, removed the license plate and fled the scene on foot. White is scheduled to be arraigned in Madison County General Sessions Court Monday, June 6, at 8:30 a.m.
