Changes Coming for Council
Tuesday, the nine current members of the Jackson City Council met for the final time, barring any specially called meeting before July. Maurice Hayes and Frank Neudecker were defeated in May’s election. Willie Moore was named to temporarily fill the District two seat earlier this year. Hayes was not present at Tuesday’s meeting, as fellow council members said their goodbyes. “We’ll be starting the fiscal year with some different council people,” said Mayor Jerry Gist. “I’m looking forward to getting them on board and working with them.” The two new council members, Scott Conger and Vicki Foote, will be sworn in next month, along with Johnny Dodd who was re-elected to fill the seat he resigned from amid eligibility questions.
