Council Passes Budget & Tax Rate

The Jackson City Council has approved a budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Tuesday, the council passed, for a second and final time, a $63.7 million spending plan for the city. The new budget year begins July 1. It is what city leaders call a “flat budget,” which means there are no new spending increases with the exception of public safety. The council also okayed a property tax rate for the new year, which did not include an increase. .
