Pringles Park Lease Renewed
The Jackson Generals are here to stay, well, at least for the next nine years. Tuesday, the owners of the baseball club renewed their lease on Pringles Park until 2020. This is the longest lease the City of Jackson has had for the park since it was built in 1998. The new deal includes a few changes, including the possibility of a TIF (Tax Increment Finance) District funded hotel and convention center built in the area by the Generals’ Nashville-based owners. “We want to show our commitment to making this thing work,” said Tom Hanson, General Managers of the Jackson Generals. “The city has been great to work with and we’ve really enjoyed our partnership.” The new lease also includes a clause, which states if the club breaks the lease to permanently relocate to another city, the owners must pay the city $1 million. Jackson is currently the smallest city in the country to have a major league AA club.
