TVA Subcontractor Headed To Court
A former subcontractor electrician charged with filing false inspection reports at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Watts Bar reactor project has a federal court hearing to change his not guilty plea.
A change of plea hearing is set Wednesday in Chattanooga for 31-year-old Matthew David Correll. The case prosecutor and his court-appointed attorney have declined to say if there is a plea deal.
Correll is charged in a two-count indictment with making false statements as a former employee of Tucker, Ga.-based Williams Specialty Services.
A conviction carries a maximum possible penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count.
Prosecutors say Correll lied about measuring cables that supply power to a safety system at the nuclear plant between Chattanooga and Knoxville.
