Bones Found in McNairy County
A family new to McNairy County said their dog, ‘Knucklehead’, found what investigators think may be human bones. “I guess the dog had brought up maybe animal bones in the past or maybe they had experience with that, but when they brought up one long bone they immediately became concerned,” said Sheriff Guy Buck of McNairy County. Henderson said her children found a pair of jeans with a wallet with an identification and cash, while doing their chores in the backyard. Henderson said she then headed to the sheriff’s office. “We spent the majority of the evening doing a thorough search of the area,” said Sheriff Buck. He said it appears they have recovered most of the long bones, a large portion of the body. “We do have a person that’s missing from the area. There are a lot of indications that it could be the person. We’re waiting for the medical examination to make an ID,” said Sheriff Buck. According to Henderson’s neighbor, she reported a man missing that lived with her back in May. Sheriff Buck said it is likely the remains belong to the missing man. “It worried me that it was that close. My kids play outside. It scared me a little, said Laura Smith, a neighbor. Investigators said they could use DNA, dental records, or a pair of prescription glasses found near the remains to identify the body. They expect a positive identification to take a few days.
