Miss Tennessee Pageant Begins

The first night of preliminary competition kicked off in the Miss Tennessee scholarship pageant, Wednesday night. 36 young women hoping to wear the coveted crown of Miss Tennessee competed in swimsuit, evening gown and talent competition. Governor Bill Haslam and his wife, First Lady Chrissy Haslam were in attendance for tonight’s opening ceremonies. Wednesday night’s preliminary winners were, in swimsuit competition, Miss Seven Lakes, Sara Mitchell. In the talent competition the winner was Miss Tennessee Valley, Lacey Alford for her vocal performance. The 59th Miss Tennessee Pageant continues Thursday night at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. The winner will be crowned Saturday night and will go on to represent the state in the 91st Miss America Pageant in January.
