Roe Appears On Murder And Rape Charge
Molly Jane Roe, the Bells woman accused of first degree murder in the death of Maleeya Murley, appeared before a Crockett County judge, Thursday. Maleeya, who was 17-months-old, was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Medical Medical Center over the weekend. Court records show that Roe allegedly threw “Maleeya onto a table, causing brain injuries to the child.” The arrest warrant claims “…the child also had [a] bite mark on her back” as well as detailing injuries that led to charges of rape and abuse. Family friends of Roe and the child’s father, appeared in court. Several people wore pink shirts displaying purple ribbons and Maleeya’s name. Roe appeared before the judge via a video conference screen. She was assigned a public defendant, and did not speak about the case. Roe is being held without bond in the Crockett County Jail.
