UT Knoxville Tuition Hike Proposed
The University of Tennessee is requesting a 12 percent hike in tuition at its Knoxville campus.
The state’s nameplate public university also wants to increase tuition nearly 10 percent at its campuses in Martin and Chattanooga.
University officials are making the request to the Board of Trustees, saying it must make up for state government funding cuts, wants to create a salary pool for faculty and create a fund aimed at making UT a Top 25 school, according to The Knoxville News Sentinel.
Officials also want a $100 per semester hike in student fees at the main campus.
UT President Joe DiPietro says he’s hopeful the board will grant the funding requests.
